A ruby-red semi-sweet wine made from Saperavi grapes. This full-bodied and tannic yet acidic wine reveals flavors of cherries, pomegranate, and chocolatey notes. It also features various dark forest berries.
The history of Askaneli dates back to 1880 when the Chkhaidze family began fermenting Chkhaveri grapes in a "Kvevri" clay vessel. Antimoz Chkhaidze transformed the first harvest into wine, laying the foundation for a two-century-long tradition. Since then, many harvests have passed. Antimoz's business was inherited by his descendants, and the family's legacy contributed to the development of the country's winemaking industry. The goal to this day is to protect, nurture, and preserve the diversity of grape varieties for future generations.
